Amy Lyon, journalist and free-lance writer, is the author of The Couple’s Business Guide, How to Start and Grow a Small Business Together and co-author of the cookbook, In A Vermont Kitchen.  She recently finished An Imperfect Year, a memoir about her year undergoing breast cancer treatment.

In her twenties Amy founded and operated, Amy Cooks for You, an award winning catering company and gourmet food shop in Western Massachusetts.  She is always on the lookout for an interesting ingredient or recipe.  During those years she was also a member of and then a co-facilitator of Longmeadow Writers and Artists and a staff writer for Jewish Weekly.

After she closed her catering business, Amy spent fourteen years as the Director of International Sales for Merriam-Webster, Inc., travelling the world, which fit right into her passions: travel, food, and writing.

Her other passion is encouraging others to be their best.  And she does so by working with local non-profits in Wilmington, NC where she currently lives with her husband, Jonathan and Herschel, their miniature schnauzer.  She’s been active in the work of Interfaith Refugee Ministry, which helps settle refugees into the area and with Dreams of Wilmington, an award winning arts program for children.
